Some help with U.S History assignment - The Cold War?

I have to write a paper explaining the development and evolution of containment as it relates to the Cold War. I plan on using 3 examples: Truman doctrine, Korean War, and Vietnam War. For Truman doctrine I will probably talk about how it started in Turkey and Greece, NATO, how it led to Marshall plan, and its transition to the Eisenhower doctrine. My problem is with the Korean and Vietnam war. I know that they are examples of containment and military troops were sent to the 38th and 17th parallel to assist the South, but I need more in depth information of how this is an example of the development of containment. Would talking about resistance to the Viet Congs and Kennedy's CIA effort to help the South explain containment? Basically I just need more in depth information...
